Case Study: Pinturas Berel Runs Trays and Wraparound Cases on One Polypack WR Line

Pinturas Berel needed flexibility for two very different paint Can Bundle formats.

To support multiple paint package formats on one line, Pinturas Berel chose a convertible Polypack WR system. The machine accepts product from upstream equipment, organizes it through a controlled infeed and diverter section, and collates it for either tray or wraparound case packing. The result is a flexible packaging solution that runs two larger paint buckets on a tray or eight smaller paint containers in a 2 x 4 wraparound case on the same platform.

The challenge
Running different paint container formats can create a tricky line design problem. Larger containers packed in trays require a different presentation than smaller containers packed in a corrugated wraparound case. Pinturas Berel needed a system that could manage incoming product flow, collate containers accurately and support both tray and case packing with consistent control.
The solution

Polypack supplied a convertible WR system for Pinturas Berel’s paint packaging operation. The line accepts product from upstream customer equipment, feeds it through a controlled infeed and diverter section, then stages and collates the containers for the required pack style.
This gave Pinturas Berel one integrated system capable of producing:
two larger paint buckets on a tray
eight smaller paint containers in a 2 x 4 wraparound corrugated case
How the system works
Paint containers enter the machine from upstream equipment and move onto the infeed conveyor in a controlled flow. A programmed diverter meters and distributes product into the required lane pattern for downstream collation. From there, the machine stages the product and prepares it for the selected packaging format.
In tray mode, the system groups two larger paint buckets and places them onto a corrugated tray.
In wraparound mode, the system collates eight smaller paint containers in a 2 x 4 pattern and loads them into a corrugated wraparound blank, which is then folded around the product to create a secure finished case.
Why this matters
For paint manufacturers, packaging flexibility can be just as important as line speed. Different container sizes and sales formats often require different secondary packaging styles. By using a convertible machine, Pinturas Berel can support both tray-packed larger buckets and wraparound-packed smaller containers on a single line platform.
Key benefits
The biggest advantage is flexibility. Pinturas Berel can run two distinct paint packaging formats on one system instead of dedicating separate equipment to each style.
The line also improves product handling. The infeed, diverter and staging sections help organize product before loading, supporting accurate collation and cleaner pack formation.
Finally, the corrugated tray and wraparound case formats give Pinturas Berel packaging options suited to different product sizes and market needs.
