June/July 2006 POLYPACK has introduced a specialized shrink-wrapping and packaging system for the dairy industry that the Tampa Bay, Florida-based company says will offer users savings with bundling as well as on materials, inventory space, labor and time. The Dairy Pack 24L=P shrink wrapper is a ruggedly designed, compact stainless-steel unit with a thermostatically-controlled, energy efficient heating tunnel. The machine handles between 2 and 24 packs to produce up to 30 wraps per minute. A color touch screen provides integrated diagnostics for users and the ability to make quick changeovers from a selection of programmed collation modules. |

Positive package control is achieved using fully adjustable
infeed guides, retractable barriers, articulating seal bar guides and
product hold down. A programmable motorized pusher assembly, including
acceleration and deceleration modes, provides precisely controlled
transfers. With shrinkwrapping, dairies can offer retailers multi-pack
solutions with the benefits of lower costs of shipment, storage and
end-product disposal. With a price advantage over other secondary
packaging materials, shrink film is a low volume (75% less material
compared to corrugated board) means of bundling that protects
containers from humidity, dust and dirt. Printed shrink film also
gives an opportunity for attractive brand outreach using collated
items. Shrink wrapping equipment also uses comparatively less energy
and take up relatively lower floor space.
